After a certain amount of time, small blow holes or fine porosity within material are disappeared or become even smaller through plastic deformation, creep, diffusion and bonding.
Once the vessel is heated, the internal air pressure will go up. Then support system is used to increase pressure further and maintain desired pressure.
An inert gas, argon is usually used because it does not react to metal.
After HIP processing, the property and usability of material significantly improves.
